Shangri-la Wedding Lunch Experience

by jamminglady @ 18. Jul 2007 - 23:20:03

I attended a Shangri-la wedding lunch recently. They have a pretty good ambience in the afternoon. The sound of running water and the cool shades from the trees. One thing I have to say about their desserts, they are really good.

This champagne did not come from the hotel though. A glass of bubbly champagne relaxes you for the Shangri-la afternoon.

An old photo that I took during my last visit to Cafe Iguana. Look at the nice glasses they used to serve the Corralejo Tequila.

The Word "Please"

by jamminglady @ 17. Jul 2007 - 22:02:06

Often, we are taught that the word "please" is used in a way to show politeness. However, if you have been working in a corporate environment, you would have realised that this word "please" is giving a different kind of emotion.

"Please look into this."

"Can you please look into it?"

"Please finish this immediately."

What do you think of the above phrases? Aren't they ordering you around? They simply give you a feeling that you are being asked to do something. They do not have a genuine meaning of politeness. By adding "please", it adds stress to the action after this word.

Recently, I've been coming across this word very often in the work environment. When I'm using it, I'm actually asking somebody to do something. When it's used on me, I'm being asked to do something. Depending on the context that it is used, it could actually give a different emotion.

The 777 Wedding Day

by jamminglady @ 09. Jul 2007 - 22:55:30

Phew!!! This must be the busiest day in Singapore. 7th July 2007 with 777 couples in Singapore getting married. Besides the couple being busy, their friends and relatives helping them must have had a busy day too.

After attending a full wedding, I experienced the stress that the couples felt on this day. Everything needs to be synchronized and well managed in order not to let their friends and relatives down. They have to worry about the customs, the management of the event, the food and their looks on that day as well. Not to forget about fun at every moment, I worry for them too!

I feel that a wedding couple should be having fun instead of having so much stress. How to manage and auto-run the event? And to make it grand at the same time? Hahha. They should have a wedding wizard.. :P

Gotham Penthouse Disappointment

by jamminglady @ 04. Jul 2007 - 11:52:13

It was my friend's hen's night. We had dinner at TCC because we couldn't get friday's reservation anywhere else at Clarke Quay and not too elaborate dinner. Well, I didn't expect this to be a favourite place for my friend. Our cost of the dinner was good enough to get a TCC member's card for her. Double happiness. :P

After that, we head on to Gotham Penthouse to watch the Australian guy's dance show. At the entrance, the place really looked empty. We wonder why. After entering, we realise it's really empty. The place has all the wierd people. I am not discriminating but there are all the funny people dancing. It's like an uncles and aunties place, not so much for us. We thought there will be more girls, I think more uncles and aunties. Hahaha..

We waited and waited for the show, it did not start until 10.30pm. Finally, they came out. It's more like boy bands I feel. They all have the washboard abs. :P At certain part of the shows, the muscular guys show their G-strings. It's the first time we are watching such shows. Haha. So funny. I think they would get better fame elsewhere. The show was okay, not bad but bad crowd. $20 for 1 drink and the show. I think any of you reading this better don't waste your money coming here next time. The website say R&B all night, the friday night was not.. all the Retro songs. GRRRRR...

Great Singapore Sales

by jamminglady @ 04. Jul 2007 - 11:47:27

These 2 months of Great Singapore Sales have been crazy but really good deals!! My cousin is really good at grabbing the great deals. Well, mainly girl's stuff. Hehe. I got my shoes, some shirts, skirts and basic cosmetics. If possible, in fact I wish to buy more. I must plan ahead for the next Great Singapore Sales.

I think the best deals are in La Senza, the lingerie shop. They sell all the good pyjamas at 50% off. I bought a set for my friend's hen party. A simple set for my friend as wedding gift. It's discounted though. Hehe.

I bought the noble gray colour for her. It has a little bit of the shiny satin look. I believe it's something she will at least dare to wear. :P
