Feel like doing what I like

by jamminglady @ 27. Oct 2006 - 15:52:19

This few days, especially with the long weekend in Singapore, I seemed to have so much more free time. So much so that I don't know what to do with my time. I had been so used to being so busy around. Maybe because I'm cutting budget this month so that I can save some money for christmas.

So well, restrained myself from all evils.. No shopping, no drinking, no delicious gourmet... just purely nothing :P I've even cut down my morning cab trips to work into bus trips only! A mere cut from $300 to $100 of transport cost. I'm so happy with my achievement. Haha. Now I feel like making more $$$. Feel like going back to last time what I have been doing.. selling something, making my brains work like the billionaires out there. It gives me the sense of leadership and achievement. On the other hand, I don't want it to burden me too much. Looks like I've gotta use some creative brains for a creative business that allows me to do all this.

How about selling good food and wine? Or should I create some design work to sell? Or should I start to paint again and sell them? All these are exciting me. Haha.

Botak Jones - Damn Good!

by jamminglady @ 24. Oct 2006 - 17:04:30

Hey friends, recently my dear brother brought me to this amazing hawker that I could never imagine the food came from a hawker!

It's like.. how great can western food be in our Singapore hawker centre? When he first told me that they have great sausage dogs and it's operated by a caucasian.. okay I thought, must taste to find out first.

So we drove off to the north of the country to Ang Mo Kio. My brother just simply grabbed 2 sets of "yellow pages" menu. Wow.. that's a thick menu for a hawker. Flip, flip and flip.. couldn't decide. Oh well, I shall try the cajun chicken plate to see how they could transform a tough piece of chicken breast meat. My brother then ordered a 6" bratwurst sausage dog.

We waited for 1hr... 1hr 15min.. finally the food came. Phew... what a long wait. There are really so many people waiting for their food.

Here taken with my handphone, quality is abit bad but.. you can still see how good it could get away with SGD$6.50 for each. So full with it!

Botak Jones Cajun Chicken Plate

Each part of the plate has a speciality. Not the usual fries, not the plain watery coleslaw, not the normal cajun or bratwurst. Peppery fries, cheesy cajun and tasty bratwurst.

They even had a site for their hawker variety.. http://www.botakjones.com

They call it DAMN GOOD. :P

My Jewel Box

Yoz.. do you have trouble finding something good to keep your necklaces? I have had this trouble. I'm the kind who likes to buy a lot of necklaces for varieties. As the years accumulated, I found it hard to really take out the right necklace or choose at a glance. Initially I saw people had something like hooks.. like those in the shops where u just put the necklace into the hook. However, it doesn't protect them from the air.. and it looks abit ugly on the desk.

So I found this cheap and easily organisable clear box for my precious accessories. Here they are! :)

Working with people...

by jamminglady @ 15. Oct 2006 - 01:56:02

Recently I've discovered something while working in my personal project. This seems to be a common problem everywhere in fact.

There are 2 scenarios:

Person A delegates you a job to do with no specific requirements. You do it as per your own way that you think it's right. After submission, person A gave a list of wrongdoings of what you should not have done and ask you to re-do. My question is.. what is the definition of the delegation? Does it include trust and belief of capability? Or is it about doing it that originator's way? What about listening to our opinions? Or it doesn't matter at all? So we are just robot listening to instructions? So they need a robot, not us.

Person B tells you to decide base on your own opinion and start work on it. So you did as per told. Person B starts to question on your work. Then where is my opinion?

Generally I think many of these situations derived from the belief of your capability and entrusting the work. If you don't believe in that person, then don't let him/her do it.

Before you start questioning (as in when you distrust), the question in your mind should be... do you need a robot do-er or do you need a thinker? This will simply differentiate your attitude. Else... give DETAIL INSTRUCTIONS for your TEMPORARY WORKER. XX(

Marriage is about buying a house???

by jamminglady @ 07. Oct 2006 - 00:41:38

Sometimes I really don't understand this theory. People getting married because they had to buy a house. People getting married because they need to get a permanent resident status in a country. People getting married because they HAVE TO. Then what on earth is marriage about? Doesn't it sound like.. it has been "commercialised"? Sigh... what will happen is that few years later, the girls come to me and complain about all these. I think they only have themselves to blame. I can't say.. the reason is not valid, but is that how they view marriage?

Many of my girl friends get their boyfriends earlier and thus getting married earlier. So some told me about how they got proposed.. how they got married.. and how they are planning their marriage. Oh well, it's a 2 person's business.. who cares as long as it works well for them. However, personally, I don't really believe on having a marriage that is about buying a house, buying a citizenship or any other for god's sake reasons.

I think I don't believe in long term relationships (>4 yrs) or long distance relationships too. It simply doesn't last that long when outside temptations are always unpredictable and too strong to handle. When 5 years are wasted.. my dear girl, you've realised that your time is gone and you've grown old. What else do you have? Either things gotta go to another stage or you'll have to take painful decision..

I think marriage is about living with each other for life. Passion and fire don't last. The next stage is when differences between each other are clear and living together is no longer a problem. It's about whether you love him/her and would like to live and share your life and woes together? Hasn't it always been so?

My friends... perhaps you should think more about the reason of marriage. Though they say love has no reasons... think about your future family.

My new Pink Ionity!

by jamminglady @ 03. Oct 2006 - 23:08:44

Time for a nice product of the month. This was probably something i needed it very much. I wash my hair every morning. And then if I do not get it dry, my hair becomes heavy.. and I'll go to work with a headache. It's easier to manage with your hair cream when it's at least partially dry so that you know how it looks before going out.. Well girls....... lots of excuses :P

I've heard about hair dryers that reduces damages to hair long long back but I never really believe in them. So hearing from stories, it only reduces damages. Finally I went to Best Denki, the electronic shop. I walked through the range of hair dryers. Initially I only thought of getting an extra hair dryer that is portable, a saleslady came to assist me. So I asked her for help.

"I needed a hair dryer that is small and portable." That's all I said. She showed me this small little cutie hair dryer which is said to have a hair reduced damage effect, it also helps your hair to become smooth.. hmmmm.. that's worth thinking. The price was around SGD$45, not expensive too. It's relatively smaller and the handle is foldable. Let's see further.

Ionity Hair Dryer
Ionity Straightener

There is a vent on the top which supposedly gives out ions. Hair naturally becomes negatively charged after washing, and then with pro-longed heating it gets worse. So positive ions generated helps to neutralise the negatively charged hair. So I got myself the pink one. :P

Taken from the Panasonic website:
How negative ions work?
In general hairs are easily positively charged after washed. By exposing hair to negative ions, moisture penetrates each and every strand of hair. These negative ions also coat the air and help it maintain its moisture content. Negative ions also neutalized static electricity and thus enhance the hair's balance.

Well, then I got her help to get a straightener too. I wanted to get it for a long time. Now is the time! Surprisingly, they have the same range for a straightener + curler. So finally I got 2! Great.. From the picture.. it looks a little like something else.. :P

Then I got home, very excited to try. Decided to try it on the following morning instead. It worked so good! The difference was just after 1 try! Your hair was not as dry after drying with hair dryer anymore. I felt it with my hands. Wow.. Thumbs up for it.
